Hope for Non-Hospital Based Medical Imaging Facilities through MIPPA Amendment http://www.captiveradiology.com/blog/hope-for-non-hospital-based-medical-imaging-facilities-through-mippa-amendment

During the early part of the summer of 2011, I had the opportunity to travel to Washington and meet with members of a few Congressional staffs about the MIPPA Law, and the effect it would have on non-hospital based advanced imaging facilities; those offering MRI, CT, Nuke Med, and PET.

How Captive Radiology Serves Its Partners http://www.captiveradiology.com/blog/how-captive-radiology-serves-its-partners

Just recently one of Captive Radiology’s longtime partners, a large orthopaedic practice, experienced a lightning strike during a large storm. This happened to occur during the Labor Day weekend, on Sunday evening. The lightning strike caused damage to the chiller, which cools the magnet of the MRI. Sometime after that, the magnet actually “quenched” and lost its magnetism.

Within hours, MRI consultants from Captive Radiology were on site doing tests, physical inspections, and coordination of support to evaluate and fix the multiple problems.

MIPPA The beginning of the end for non-hospital based advanced imaging http://www.captiveradiology.com/blog/third-entry

It has recently come to my attention that an omission in the 2008 MIPPA Law will greatly affect the medical imaging community in the near future. This omission in the law is essentially allowing CMS to make it virtually impossible to open any new independent imaging facilities after January 1st, 2012. It will also cause any existing facilities to basically close down if they need or desire to upgrade or swap out equipment. This law will affect imaging facilities using MRI, CT or PET.

Stay away from DiaTri http://www.captiveradiology.com/blog/another-entry

As a health care provider our company relies so much on submitted claims being paid in a timely manner.  As any medical practice or medical provider can confirm, the promise of claims being paid regulate our cash flow and our plans to use that cash to cover payroll and meet other obligations.

A Need for Chiropractic Care http://www.captiveradiology.com/blog/a-need-for-chiropractic-care

As the beneficiary of Chiropractic care I am completely on board with Chiropractic Physicians around the country who are working hard to make Chiropractic care more available to us patients. We are all aware that there is a need for Health-care reform, but not all for the same reasons nor for wanting to see a Federal Government takeover. However, Chiropractic care has been a fundamental form of care for millions of patients and is an effective and essential component of overall health and well being.

Veterinary Practices Utilizing Advanced Imaging http://www.captiveradiology.com/blog/veterinary-practices-utilizing-advanced-imaging

More and more specialty or referral Veterinary practices are acquiring and implementing advanced medical imaging such as MRI or CT into their practices. One of the reasons for this is that owners of pets really want the best possible care possible for their "family members". If there is any possibility that a pet can be cured, or saved owners, like me, want to exhaust every option. Advanced medical imaging also provides another option for Veterinary Physicians to diagnose a problem without exploratory surgery.

Wake Up Doc http://www.captiveradiology.com/blog/wake-up-doc

As we close in on 2009 physicians find themselves continuing to look to see where the next shoe will drop and how it will effect how they practice medicine and care for patients. It seems like almost daily some new regulation comes from CMS or Congress.
