As a former college football coach I cannot tell you how many times my players were helped back onto the field with a comprehensive approach using our team trainers, M.D's and Chiropractic Physicians. A Chiropractor was always included in with the physician staff. It is unfortunate that in today's society there is still debate over Chiropractic care. There are still insurance companies out there who make a Chiropractor speak to an M.D. on staff in order to assure that an imaging procedure can be ordered. There is still limited access to Chiropractors by Medicare, and there is a new movement within CMS to debate removing the title "Physician" from a Chiropractor.
This move would essentially strip the Chiropractic community from receiving any Medicare reimbursement, and force Medicare patients to pay full cost for Chiropractic care. Now, whether you agree with me about Chiropractic care or not, this is not going to benefit anyone; not the millions who find relief and will have to pay full cost or the Medicare system which will ultimately spend more for less conservative treatment. So many today preach the need for "choice", yet we seem to be limited to what the Government believes we should have choices about.
There is a time for each health-care option and none should be removed. If you feel the same I would encourage you to go to www.chirovoice.org, join and send a pre-written or self wriiten email to your representative. You should have a choice!
